COLLAB ROUND CHECK-IN + DISCUSSION
Hey again! The collab round prompt was also released today. This is the one where we want everyone on the team to pitch in to fill the prompt!
I think this will be a really good theme for us! Let's throw down with the other teams and break some hearts, guys :3.
COLLAB ROUND RULES:
No media requirement! Fill this prompt however you damn well please. Otherwise, please be mindful of the limitations that apply to all of the rounds; see the sticky post at the top of the comm if you're confused.
SCHEDULE:
This may be tweaked, since the HSO mods aren't totally sure of what's going to happen. Right now I'm going with "pushing everything back a week." So!
June 2 - June 16: Brainstorming
In here we want to generate as many ideas as possible, slap them together, and come up with something amazing. I'd like us to be pretty solid on the idea by about June 16th, so we can get on with creating our awesome collab piece!
June 16 - June 23: Assigning Roles
Here you get to claim your bit! Do you want to write, edit, draw, colour, code, something else??? Say so here! I've given us a week so we can make sure we're all doing what we want to be doing.
June 23 - August 8: Creating Your Sections
Here we create our sections, obviously 8D. THE DEADLINE IS AUGUST 8. This gives us time to go over it as a whole, work out any bugs, and submit it. I think a month should be more than enough for this.
Right guys, let's hop to! If you think the schedule needs tweaking, let me know. Otherwise, start your brainstorming!
The prompt here is ‘aberration,’ which you can interpret more or less any way you like; like last year, we’re deliberately leaving it pretty vague. If you are unsure whether something counts or not, just ask! (It probably counts.)

Brainstorming Documentation
Here are some format possibilities we came up with:
- Illustrated fic
- Fanventure
- Audio reading + Illustrated fic in Flash format
I think most people are on board with the Audio + Illustrated Fic idea.
Pros: Something different, everyone can contribute
Cons: Could be a bit difficult to pull together, we need someone who can use Flash
I'm willing to learn Flash and I don't think it should be too hard to create the file C: So that's okay! Dani, Rhe, let us know if you like this idea.
I also sent an ask to the mods, and it turns out that there are no limits for the Collab Round, which means we can go absolutely nuts with this! We don't have to worry about image or word limits. That said, we should try to keep it realistic - we do need to be able to pull it together fairly quickly.
We also discussed the theme of Aberration a bit!
- Both ladies are aberrations
- Handmaid's 'demon powers' + Condesce's powers from Lord English
- Both are immortal
- Extreme ends of the haemospectrum
- They're following a pattern of servitude & destruction
- There's also a cool alternate meaning of 'aberration', which is, "apparent displacement of a heavenly body, owing to the motion of the earth in its orbit."
- Handmaid lived for a long time in the green sun, Condesce is on Derse.
- Condesce's travels through space
- That definition could theoretically be applied to them as a metaphor or something with one of them standing in for the heavenly body and the other standing in for the earth
- Handmaid's servitude being 'in orbit' around people/events, Condesce believing the world revolves around her
So that is the documentation of the brainstorming so far! I think there are some really neat concepts in there that we can pull together. If anyone has any more ideas, or different ideas (especially Dani and Rhe!), let us know!
Brainstorming Documentation II: Brainstorm Harder
Pros: Easy to illustrate & split up between everyone, panders well to the timeline variations in their lives (each writer has a different tone), not as structured as a long story.
Cons: Could be hard to maintain continuity and link together cohesively.
Everyone seems to like this idea so I think we're going to power forward with it - speak now or forever hold your peace if you're not a fan!

If there's a ? next to your name, I either remember you expressing an interest but not which part you expressed interest in, or I can't remember you expressing interest but am pretty sure you're up for it @_@. So, claim your parts now and tell me if I'm wrong! The sooner we get this administrivia done, the sooner we can create awesome things :D.
